SME Mission for 2012

The SME Pittsburgh Chapter supports the SME mission by engaging in those activities shown in RED.

The mission of SME is to acquire and distribute manufacturing knowledge among its members and the broader manufacturing community.
SME Vision________________________________________Recognized globally as the premier source for manufacturing knowledge, education and networking.

Goal 1: Knowledge
SME will be the premier manufacturing knowledge resource throughout the global manufacturing community. Our plant tour / technical meetings

Goal 2: Education
SME and the SME Education Foundation will be known as advocates for careers in manufacturing and a leading resource for manufacturing education. Sponsored SME Gateway Academy in -2- school districts; help form SME student chapters

Goal 3: Membership
SME will actively engage people and companies in their communities of interest to add value for the member. Our plant tour / technical meetings; chapter advocate for government help for manufacturing

Goal 4: Brand
SME's brand creates the image of the most valued source of manufacturing knowledge. Our chapter is a source for manufacturing information in many industries including healthcare.

Goal 5: Lean & Effective
SME will be both lean and effective. Our chapter found that the best way of providing a effective valuable program to enhance manufacturing is thru our plant tour / technical meetings

Goal 6: Knowledge Delivery
SME will deliver knowledge in ways that meet the needs of members and customers. Our chapter helps to demonstrate lean journeys of companies to help other companies improve themselves through our plant tour / technical meetings
