  Faro Scan Arm Presentation
Manufacturing in Ontario is evolving continuously. Successful companies have adapted to the influx of offshore competition, inflated dollar and increased raw material and energy costs. Cost reduction is a necessary constant. Portable digitization devices are being ntroduced at an increasing rate in many cost reduction initiatives. Improved ease of use and attractive pricing has allowed scanning technologies to gain mainstream acceptance. Walter Bentley, P. Eng. of FARO Technologies will overview some of these significant portable digitization devices and conduct a demonstration of inspection and reverse engineering using a non-contact laser scanner. Learn how portable inspection of complex shapes combined with high-speed reverse engineering is driving improved time to market, quality, and productivity while reducing rework/scrap, improved and downtime.

  About the Company
Faro Technologies, Inc.

With approximately 13,500 installations and 6,500 customers globally, FARO Technologies, Inc. designs, develops, and markets portable, computerized measurement devices and software. The Company's products allow manufacturers to perform 3-D inspections of parts and assemblies on the shop floor. This helps eliminate manufacturing errors, and thereby increases productivity and profitability for a variety of industries in FARO's worldwide customer base. Principal products include the FARO Laser Scan Arm; FARO Laser Scanner LS; FARO Gage and Gage-PLUS; Platinum, Titanium, and Advantage Faro Arms; the world's best-selling laser tracker system - the FARO Laser Tracker X and Xi; and the CAM2 family of advanced CAD-based measurement and reporting software. FARO Technologies is ISO-9001:2000 certified, and accredited to ISO-17025 Calibration Laboratory Standard.

Featured Equipment FARO Laser Scan Arm: Users can collect simple point variations with the Arms hard probe, then laser scan (up to 19,200 points/sec) the sections requiring larger volumes of data without adding/removing attachments, untangling cabling, or needing a separate CMM to import data. It’s the industries first ever 7-axis contact/non-contact measurement device with a fully integrated laser scanner. Platinum Faro Arm: Available in 4 to 12- foot configurations, offers up to .0005” accuracy for inspection, reverse engineering and CAD-to-Part-analysis. It’s ideal for facilities needing GD&T and SPC output. Durable enough for harsh manufacturing environments, yet light and versatile enough to be easily moved around.

Note: Before the Talk there will be a small graduation ceremony for the Bronze and Silver Lean Certifications and CMfgE Certifications held in the last two months.
