SME Toronto Chapter 26: Programs, Tours and Talks

Professional Development
Clear Guide to Highly Effective People Skills
Five Instant Leadership Skills to a balanced personal and professional life:

Positive - Feelings
Strategic - Thinking
Honest - Finding Reality
Habits - Action
Balance - Judgment

Date: Novermber 9, 2009
Time: 6:00pm - 9:00pm

In truth, nearly anything is possible to any human being or organization if they pay attention to the five skill area, and sustain balance among them over the long haul. As a reminder, Dave Crisp will speak about the Effectiveness Compass to show the central principle of sustaining balance in two ways.

First, one must sustain balance on the way to his or her goals (the bold arrow), beginning from current reality, honestly appraised and understood to the best of our abilities (not always easy). As well, one must sustain focus on moving forward. Balance must exist between the positive goals and the drag we feel from hurdles we must honestly face. How fast one tries to progress must be balanced with the need to rest periodically, to keep in shape physically, mentally and spiritually to sustain the full path to success.

Second, one must sustain balance continuously among all five elements while he or she progresses. In the Compass these are shown at the four points - honesty, positive attitude, creative thinking, trial and error habit-building, with balancing shown at the centre where the balance between these would occur.

We invite you to attend this seminar to learn more from Dave Crisp, a former Senior HR VP, the current guru in training and coaching effectiveness individuals, leaders and organizations.

About Dave Crisp, and Crisp Strategies Inc.

Dave Crisp founded Crisp Strategies Inc. in 2002 to give people the easy steps to five key skills that help everyone (and their organizations) succeed faster and better and enjoy life more. Through seven careers, Dave developed hundreds of leaders, ultimately heading human resources at Hudson’s Bay Company, a national top-25 employer, through 14 years and three CEOs. His people skills programs helped it become a “best company to work for” despite more than 110 mergers and re-organizations, nearly one a month. During that time he also led a ten million dollar Internet start-up that put joint ventures into six countries in 10 months. Earlier successes included improving one organization’s performance more than 600% over three years. Before the Bay, Dave directed Personnel and collective bargaining at two Toronto hospitals following a career in education, counseling and leadership, which included negotiating for and leading a large teachers’ union group and ultimately running for Member of Parliament. Dave holds a BA in Psychology, a Masters of Education and the CHRP - Canadian Human Resources Professional designation - as well as various education leadership qualifications
