Please stop by and read our new Chapter Bulletin for August!  It has been delayed with hopes of receiving more articles from our members.  We plan to continue putting out an issue every month.

In our Chapter Bulletin, we will include technical, academic, and informative articles. We would like the articles to come from our membership and from the members of our Student Chapters. All articles submitted by our membership and published online will also be submitted to National for review to be published either as a Technical Paper or in Manufacturing Engineering, SME's monthly magazine. We would also like to hear from our membership in the form of letters to the editor or other editorials.

To submit your articles or letters, simply e-mail: Christopher Hansen, CMfgT, your Vice Chair of Chapter Communications.

Feel free to contact the Web Team with any recommendations about how we can improve this site, types of articles you would like to read, or if you would like to write a periodical piece.

We will also return to having our advertising in our Chapter Bulletin. We will also start allowing advertisers to post their ads or links to their ads in our normal web pages as well. We will continue to have our Advertisers web page for additional full page ads and our most recent pricing information.

Earlier this year, we shared with you the variety of scholarships that SME has available to its members and their families. I am pleased to announce that this year, Levi Gamble was awarded the SME Education Foundation "Family Scholarship" award. He will be attending Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington. This scholarship is a four year, full ride scholarship, worth up to $80,000.

Western Washington University is one of the three student chapters affiliated with our senior chapter. The other two are the University of Washington and Edmonds Community College.

Details on scholarship recipients can be found at SME's news page.

SME 75th Anniversary Logo

For 75 years, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) has been the place "Where Manufacturing Comes Together." Founded in 1932 with 33 members, the organization was originally named the Society of Tool Engineers. A year later, it was renamed the American Society of Tool Engineers. It finally became the Society of Manufacturing Engineers in 1969.

Today, SME is the world's leading professional society supporting manufacturing education. Through its member programs, publications, expositions, and professional development resources, SME promotes an increased awareness of manufacturing engineering and helps keep manufacturing professionals up to date on leading trends and technologies. Also, visit the National historical web page.
