Future City Competition - This competition for middle school students not only provides an exciting hands-on way to learn about engineering, math, and science, but also provides a personal, real-world connection. The time the volunteer engineers spend with the students is only one or two hours a week, yet the impact continues for a lifetime.

RI/SME Student Robotic Engineering Challenge 2001 - Robotics International of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers conducts the annual Student Robotic Engineering Challenge. This annual international competition provides individual students and teams from middle schools, high schools, community colleges, and universities an opportunity to demonstrate their application of classroom knowledge to real-world activities as they participate in a variety of contest categories. Students are invited to demonstrate their knowledge, skills, and creative problem solving techniques through fourteen exciting contests.

JETS (Junior Engineering Technical Society) - Provides activities, events, competitions, programs, and materials that involve students with engineers and demonstrate what engineers do. Information about TEAMS, NEDC, NEAS+ and JETS Guidance materials. Also links to a vast array of other pre-college engineering resources including financial aid and scholarships.

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) - A 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to generate an interest in science and engineering among today's youth. Currently, the primary means of accomplishing this goal is through the annual robot competitions, which began in 1992.

MATHCOUNTS - A coaching and competition program for middle school students nationwide.
