Welcome to the homepage of the Atlanta Chapter (Chapter 61) of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), where manufacturing comes together in North Georgia! We’re glad you stopped by for a visit. Our Chapter 61 team strives to maintain an active schedule of exciting plant tours along with interesting and informative technical presentations and activities, in order to promote an increased awareness of manufacturing engineering in our community. At the same time, we aim to create an environment for local manufacturing professionals to get together and have some fun, chat with each other about leading trends and technologies that impact their daily jobs, and develop friends and contacts that will last them throughout their careers and lifetimes. December 10, 2009 – Toys for Tots We had over 30 people who built a total of more than 175 bikes at this year’s Toys for Tots event! We greatly appreciate the efforts of all of you who came out and made the event one of the most successful bike builds we’ve had in recent years! January 2010 – No Meeting No meeting will be held in January as we prepare for the exciting year ahead. However, check out the details below about our February tour of 3DScanCo! February 16, 2010 – Tour of GKS Global Services GKS Global Services, formerly 3DScanCo, is an engineering firm specializing in 3D scanning solutions. With over 25 years of successful 3D scanning projects, GKS can scan anything from tiny components to vehicles and even entire buildings. They have locations around the globe including a Plymouth, MI lab which is accredited by the A2LA for Mechanical Testing and Calibration and ITAR certified.
