Our January Technical Presentation was by Dr. Gerald.
His presentation gave an overview of applications of magnesium, the growth of
magnesium usage, research (primarily by the Chinese and Germans) and the world
market economies of magnesium usage. Dr. Cole passes some samples of stamped (yes stamped) magnesium sheet
stock and thixomolded * magnesium. Dr. Cole separated from Ford Motor Company as
a Senior Staff Technical Specialist in November 2001. His career at Ford spanned
38 years in a range of subjects from metallurgy and cast metals R&D (in cast
irons, aluminum, magnesium, and metal matrix composites), physical analysis, and
vehicle weight reduction. He was a director of 5 technical/trade organizations,
is listed in American Men/Women of Science and is cited in Who's Who. Jerry has
published 130 papers, has 9 patents and has given hundreds of invited
presentations around the world. He manages his own consulting company
