Minutes of the Executive Board Meeting

April 8, 2009

Technical Presentation:

The presenter for the evening was our Chapter 069 Membership Chair Stacy Behrens on Social Networking. We all learned a lot about LinkedIn, Facebook, MySpace, Twitter & Plaxo.

Viktor Astakhov presented a certificate of appreciation from Chapter 69 to Stacy.

Chairman, John Agapiou began the meeting at 6:30 p.m. at 6:50 Stacy started his presentation. Meeting and dinner continued after the presentation.

Chapter Business

Secretary's Report

John Agapiou asked in Stuart Selis absent if there were any additions or corrections to the March minutes. None were offered. Alan Wolfe made a motion to accept, seconded by Robert Petrach, approved.

Treasurer's Report

Gary Shepperd gave the report.

Balance after this months expenses and tonight’s meeting $4,920.65

Membership Committee:

Stacy Behrens said we were at 333 members as of today.

Our membership for the year has stayed stable.

Stacy has been working on a new Web Site for our Chapter.

Programs Report:

Jack Day was absent.

John Agapiou talked about the May presentation.

Melissa Pletcher manager of Volunteer Services at the Detroit Science Center will give the presentation on opportunities to fulfill our educational mission.

John asked for volunteers to help at the Detroit Science Center.

There will be no meeting for June, July & August.

September presentation is set.

Alan Wolfe asked if there would be a summer social.

Bob Petrach said he would talk to Jack Day about the Dream Cruise outing.

Certification Report:

Larie Smith was absent. There was no report.

Communications Report:

Doug Ruffley was absent.

John Agapiou talked with Doug and Doug said he lost the email list of members.

Bob Petrach said he has a partial list to work with.

Bulletin Report:

Paul Drallos was absent. No report.

Student Chapter Report:

No student report.

Old Business:

Stacy Behrens has been working on a new Web Site for our Chapter.

New Business:

Bob Petrach is going to nominate Chengyin Yuan for the SME Young Manufacturing Engineer Award this year. Bob Petrach talked about the Manufacturers Employment Advocacy event Chapter One is hoping to put on in July or August and asked if anyone is interest in helping to contact him.

Bob also talked about the Chapter possibly joining the Engineering Society of Detroit.

A motion adjourned the meeting from Dick Bailey, seconded by Bob Petrach at 8:45pm.
