Minutes of the Executive Board Meeting

Technical Presentation:

 

At 6:10 the technical presentation "The Changing Face of Automotive Manufacturing" was given Dr. Jay Baron Director, Manufacturing Systems at the Center for Automotive Research. (a pdf file of the presentation can be found on the Chapter 69 website.

Chapter Business

 

Chairman Petrach called the meeting of the executive board to order at 7:30 p.m.

Secretary’s Report:

 

Chairman Petrach asked if there were any additions or corrections to the unofficial February minutes as posted on the website.  There were none, Gary Shepperd moved to accept the minutes and Scott Manning seconded the motion.

 

No other chapter business was conducted.

 

After the Technical presentation there was a joint meeting with two presentations, one from SME Chapter 69 and one from IIE-GDC Chapter 47.

 

First, Chapter 69 Oakland Macomb of SME began the meeting that commenced forty-five minutes after seven.  Bob Petrach kicked it off introducing the chapter and officers, Gary Shepperd talked about future plans and student programs to expand membership, Scott Manning described upcoming programs, John Dinovski explained Certification support and opportunities, Cathy DeNardo described membership programs including the 2 telethons, future possible activity with STEPS and the Diversity Initiative in SME to encourage participation among our women members and opportunities related to the integration of women in the technical work environment. 

 

Bob Petrach finished up by touching on the many opportunities in the Technical Community network noting the opportunities on over 50 specialized areas and then presented the floor to Bijay Navak who is the President of IIE-GDC Chapter 47 and a member of SME Chapter 69. 

 

Bijay presented the IIE-GDC Strategic Plan 2005, Chapter Programs emphasizing the Symposium 2005, Lean Six Sigma Value Management Symposium - October 21st, Board Meetings schedule for all of 2005, 2005 Board Officers.  He also showed us some IIE-GDC procedures such as the Chapter Activity report and the Member Satisfaction Survey.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 8:31 p.m. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at Oakland Community CollegeAdvanced Technology Center, 2900 Featherstone Road (room T-6) Auburn Hill, MI.
