Chapter 69

Minutes of the Executive Board Meeting

November 9, 2005

 

 

 

Technical Presentation:

 

The presenter for the evening, was Dr. David Dilley of D3 Vibrations, Inc.

His demonstration and talk was on Optimizing Cutting Tool Performance.

Dinner and socialization followed the technical presentation. Awards chairman, Viktor Astakhov, was not present. The certificate of appreciation from Chapter 69 will be given at a latter time.

Chair-Elect, Gary Shepperd began the meeting at 7:45 p.m.

Secretary's Report

 

A motion made by Robert Petrach and seconded by Joel Storchan accepted October minutes.

 

Treasurer's Report

 

Jack Wagner gave the report and noted that we are in good financial shape and has everything organized for the next treasure with 2003-2005 records burned on a CD.

 

Nominations Committee:

 

Jack Day gave the report and stated that if there is a tie vote that the exchairman can break the tie vote.

Election slate was presented, ballots passed out and membership voted. Members were elected to positions as follows:

Membership Committee:

 

Cathy Denardo thanked the volunteers for the telethon that was held on October 25.  

 

Programs Report:

 

Scott Manning is working on the Dragon Meade Brewery tour. Tour is tentatively set for the third or fourth weekend in January.

 

Bulletin Report:

 

Joel Storchan talked about the new bulletin layout. Joel passed around the second sheet of the bulletin, which is on the web-site and discussed options to this page. 

 

Awards Report:

 

Victor Astakov was absent. Jack Day talked about the national meeting member’s council and the Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award that John Dinovski received at the black tie event.

 

Certification Report:

 

John Dinovski said that two people are signed up for the certification exams, Gary Shepperd and Stacy Chandler. Exams will be held December 2,3&4.

 

Student Chapter Report(s):

 

Jennifer Lyn Warstler was absent.

Robert Petrach said that Jennifer and Elaine have been in communication.

 

TCN Report:

 

Dick Bailey was absent. Talk of looking for someone else for this position.

 

Best Practices Report:

 

Alan Wolfe said he would be submitting a best practice and asked for ideas and help putting others together.

 

Old Business:

 

Awards Banquet to be held on November 22 at the Clawson Steak House at 6:00pm

Tech and Member Council combined leadership.

STEPS (SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY & ENGINEERING PREVIEW) program is a go for 2006. Need volunteers to help with this event.

STEPS is a 4 to 5 day summer camp for girls to interest them in engineering.

Talk of working on targeting smaller shops for SME membership.

 

 

 

 

New Business:

 

Joel talked about selling SME and OCC. Advertising some of our events in local trade papers.

Robert talked about news releases and Oakland Community CollegeLawrence Technological University articulation agreement. There is now 16 Associate Degree programs at OCC that articulate directly to Baccalaureate Degree programs without loss of credits.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 pm by a motion from Joel seconded by everyone.

The next meeting is our planning meeting on December 14. No tech presentation.
