Minutes of the Executive Board Meeting

Technical Presentation:

The presenter for the evening was Robert Axtman from DELMIA Corp. a Chapter 069 member.

Robert’s presentation was on Dassault Systems' DELMIA software suite. It is the key enabler in an PLM-enabled environment for manufacturing. DELMIA delivers a digital manufacturing process environment to optimize production systems before moving to physical implementation, all at the convenience of a desktop. Viktor Astakhov presented a certificate of appreciation from

Chapter 69 to Robert. Dinner followed the presentation.

 

Chairman, Bob Petrach began the meeting at 7:35 p.m. with introductions.

Chapter Business

 

 

Secretary's Report

Alan Wolfe asked if there were any additions or corrections to the October minutes. None were offered. Jack Wagner made a motion to accept, seconded by John Dinovski, approved.

 

Treasurer's Report

Gary Shepperd gave the report. Received a check from SME for member retention of $684.00 Balance after this months expenses and tonight’s meeting $5,682.48

Certification expenses still pending.

 

Nominations Committee

Bob Petrach said Jack Day volunteered for the Programs Chair position.

This fills all eight-board positions.

Bob Petrach appointed John Agapiou Chair Elect for this meeting. John is also the Programs Chair for 2008. Bob will be handing over the gavel to John Agapiou after tonight’s meeting.

Bob listed the slate of candidates nominated to run for the 2009 SME Chapter 069 Board.

They are Chair-John Agapiou, Chair Elect-Chengyin Yuan, Secretary- Stuart Selis, Treasurer- Gary Shepperd, Membership Chair-Stacy Behrens, Certification Chair-Larie Smith, Programs Chair-Jack Day, Communications Chair-Doug Ruffley

The vote was taken by a raise of hands. Was approved.

 

 

 

 

Membership Committee:

Bob Petrach said we were at 342 members as of today.

Per Gary’s report we receive $684.00 from SME which means we were in the 85-89.9% retention.

We also received one new member Eduardo Gonzalez who is at the meeting tonight.

 

Programs Report:

John Agapiou talked about the January presentation that is planned for a tour of KUKA Robotics.

He’s been having problems making contact with them to confirm. Watch the Bulletin for any changes for the January presentation. John Agapiou asked Stacy Behrens to do a presentation on Business Networking for January if KUKA Robotics falls through. Stacy agreed.

Mike Majewski who works for ABB said he scheduled the tour for ABB for February.

Single Source Technologies is another tour that John Agapiou is working on.

Larie Smith suggested a robotics presentation at the OCC Lab might draw students to the event.

 

Certification Report:

Larie Smith and John Dinovski will work together to get the word out on our certification classes and exams. Bob Petrach said both of the SME review slides had been purchased.

Jack Wagner said he would make a flyer of what the certification covers.

Larie is to give Viktor Astakhov the names to put on a plague to give to Michigan Production Machine for their generosity in giving us their conference room for the reviews and exams.

 

Communications Report:

Doug Ruffley is out of town.

 

Bulletin Report:

Paul Drallos said he has been getting more information to put in the Bulletin. This makes putting the bulletins together much better. Bob Petrach praised the great job that Paul has been doing.

 

Student Chapter Report:

No student report.

 

Old Business:

Bob Petrach talked about the Installation Dinner with Chapter One on December 16th at the Gazebo in Warren. It was requested from Chapter One that Gary sends one check to cover all members. The cost is $23.00 single or $45.00 couple.

Bob went through a list an asked who was coming.

Bob asked everyone who is going to get with Gary this week.

 

New Business:

Awards for installation dinner Bob and Viktor will take care of.

Bob will work on the nominee of Hurb Dobbs for the SME Follow award.

December meeting is the planning meeting.

Bob Petrach passed the gavel to John Agapiou and thanked everyone for they’re passed work.

 

 

A motion adjourned the meeting from Viktor Astakhov, seconded by Jason Viers at 8:10pm.
