Chapter 69

Minutes of the Executive Board Meeting

October 11, 2006

 

 

 

 

Technical Presentation:

Today we had a tour of Museum-Bronze. Sheri Grant the Executive Director gave an over view of how the Museum came to be. The Museum is a collection of over 1000 hand-made working models. Like going to the Henry Ford but only in miniature.

Awards chairman, Viktor Astakhov presented a certificate of appreciation from Chapter 69 to Sheri. Dinner and socializing followed the tour and presentation.

 

Chairman, Gary Shepperd began the meeting at 7:05 p.m.

Chapter Business

Secretary's Report

A motion made by Bob Petrach and seconded by Jack Wagner accepted the September minutes presented by Alan Wolfe with the following-amended change. The refund check for bulk mailing was for $247.55 not $231.00 as was reported.

 

Treasurer's Report

Jack Wagner gave the report. Jack mentioned that we were in good financial shape but suggested that for the Installation Dinner that the Chapter pay for the member and the member would pay for there spouse. This was agreed by all. A motion made by Scott Manning and seconded by Doug Ruffley accepted the Treasure report.

 

Membership Committee:

Cathy DeNardo was absent. Gary Shepperd noted that the Steps program was a success and they learned a lot for next year. Gary to email the Steps report to Paul Drallos to add to the Bulletin.

 

Programs Report:

Scott Manning talked about Museum Bronze and the object of the Museum is to get kids involved in Engineering. The original November presentation has been moved to January. The November presentation will be on Power Lasers.

The January presentor will be Suresh Rama, which will be on designing for 6 sigma.

 

Communications Report:

Doug Ruffley reported that the email database has 285 names. Doug noted that we are now getting invitations to Chapter One and 79 Technical Presentation. Leandro Barajas suggest sending reminder emails out the day before our meeting. Doug will now be doing this in hopes of better attendance and also asking members to check out our website. There was talk about having our meeting put in local newspapers.

 

 

Certification Report:

Larie Smith was absent. Talk was on the dates: review on Saturday November 11 and 18 from 9:00am to 5:00pm with the test on Sunday November 19 at 1:30pm.

Both Jack Wagner and Doug Ruffley said they could instruct some of the reviews.

More instructors will be needed.

 

Student Chapter Report(s):

Jennifer Warstler was absent. No news.

 

Bulletin Report:

Paul Drallos was talking about the format of the Bulletin. Wondering if the format should be changed since we are going to an all email Bulletin. Paul asked that pictures be sent to him as an attachment in a JPEG format. There was also talk about having one mailed bulletin a year in the late summer.

 

Old Business:

Jack Day received the “SME International Award of Merit”.

Leandro Barajas received the “SME Kuo K. Wang Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award”.

 

Nominations Committee:

 

Bob Petrach listed the nominees for 2007. Chair- John Dinovski, Chair Elect- Vern Speidel, Treasurer-Jack Wagner, Secretary-Alan Wolfe, Communications-Doug Ruffley, Certification-Larie Smith, Programs- Leandro Barajas.

A motion made by Gary Shepperd and seconded by Alan Wolfe nominated Bob Petrach Membership Chair.

 

New Business:

Installation dinner to be held on Tuesday November 21, 2006

Volunteer needed to make arrangements for dinner. Chapter 069 will pay for member only.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 8:00pm by a motion from Bob Petrach and seconded by Doug Ruffley.
