September Technical Presentation:

“Forward Engineering & Digital CAD”

Presented by Steve Griffiths and Jon Moss of Materialise.

Steve Griffiths is a Sales Engineer at Materialise (www.materialise.com) with 11 years of experience presenting leading edge technology to the design and engineering communities. These technologies include 3 dimensional software and rapid prototyping equipment developed to give engineering professionals a competitive edge and tools to design better products in less time and at lower cost.  Steve holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Eastern Michigan University.

Jon Moss is an Application Engineer at Materialise and recent graduate of the University of Michigan.  Jon is the leading technical and pre-sales support contact for 3Matic “Forward Engineering” software. Jon has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan.

“Forward Engineering & Digital CAD”

Materialise has been the industry standard for stl (triangle) file fixing and editing software for the Rapid Prototyping Industry and other computer aided engineering applications utilizing stl files. 3Matic is the latest innovation of Materialise.

3Matic: Forward Engineering Software eliminates the need for reverse engineering and return-loops to the original CAD package, because everything is performed at the 'digital' (triangle) level. It's an innovative solution for preparing product designs quickly for further steps in the development and manufacturing process. For instance, with 3Matic you can easily manipulate a point cloud file that you've obtained by scanning a clay model, transforming it into a file ready for finite element analysis, rapid prototyping or manufacturing. In addition, 3Matic can take a CAD model, developed for the sole purpose of defining the looks of a design, and quickly make it ready for manufacture. 3Matic also clears the way for custom mass production based on individual anatomy (e.g. data obtained via CT or optical scans).
