Summary:

Process capability calculations are an integral element of most production approval processes (e.g. PPAP). These calculations are simple when we have equal bilateral tolerances.

Unfortunately, positional tolerances with cylindrical or spherical tolerance zones present us with three vexing challenges:

  1. Error is unilateral
  2. Variation is not normally distributed
  3. Complexities of bonus tolerances

In his presentation, Mark Morris will frame the problem, introduce the method of Weibull Analysis, and describe how the Weibull distribution can be applied to solve these three challenges.  He will conclude by sharing a few practical examples.  A white paper on his methods will be provided to each participant.

About Our Speaker:
