My first experience with industrial lasers happened in Auric Goldfinger’s plant in Switzerland on the evening he was about to cut James Bond in two starting in an extremely delicate area. That was in 1964. Needless to say, industrial lasers and their potential for useful work have progressed mightily since that time. However, if you are like me, you assume the increased potential, but do not have the details. This month you will have the opportunity to advance your knowledge of this field of technology with a visit to a plant that proclaims a “production first philosophy.”
On January 18, 2007 the members of SME Chapter 079 will have the opportunity to visit a plant that manufactures laser workstations. On that Thursday night, the third Thursday of the month, we have been invited to Power Laser Corporation’s Pioneer, OH Plant for a tour and a technical presentation. The presentation will focus on a technological breakthrough initiated commercially by Power Laser, diode laser welding of plastic.
Mr. Fenton promises to school us on this new technology, which has the potential to hermetically seal two plastic substrates together. He will also brief us on the welding, cutting and blank production capabilities of Power Laser’s equipment. Join us on the eighteenth to learn, connect and succeed. Being there is the price, the fellowship comes with your membership, the knowledge and connections you make could be priceless. The evening promises to be provocative and profitable for all. Do not miss this special opportunity!
Plan to join us and enjoy this evening out with a group of fellow manufacturing professionals. Bring your questions and your experiences. There will be time to share.
Space for this unique SME event is limited. Make your reservation today!
