Every day we all face the challenge of improving performance. Efficiency can be said to be the foundation of our profession. How does one do it better, faster or easier? Quite often, we find a way to incorporate a wheel or axle to perform necessary work. Rotating components prove essential to many of our machines. In this domain, chatter, vibration, noise and friction rob efficiency. Each and every one of these components therefore requires balance to perform. Alas, our tools do not produce sub components that balance flawlessly. How do we measure, how do we test, to discover and correct imbalance flaws? We seek out well-balanced experts in balancing technology.

This month the members and guests of SME Chapter 079 will do just that! On the third Thursday of March, we have been invited to hear a presentation on the latest in rotating system measurement, testing and correction technology courtesy of the people at Balance Technology, Inc. We will also be treated to a tour of their facility to see the inner workings of a company that develops and manufactures this class of precision measurement and testing equipment.

Our host Mr. Bruce Mitchell promises to educate all of us about the intricacies of balancing, the way to measure balance, and the latest in devices and systems to facilitate balance measurement.
