Chairman's message:
"Just a Member"
Fellow members of SME Chapter 85. I am
appreciative of the votes of confidence that have recently placed me in this
position. For years I have been "just a member"--attending meetings,
lectures, parties, and plant tours. I have truly enjoyed associating with
manufacturing professionals and friends in our chapter and related
local organizations. Plant tours and lectures have given me exposure to other
people's and companies' ways and ideas. This networking and learning has been
invaluable to my education and career--well worth the dues I have paid every
year. More than once I have been able to apply what I learned at SME for the
benefit of my employers as well as myself. So it's a win-win situation.
The SME Mission Statement is: "The Society
of Manufacturing Engineers serves its members and the international
manufacturing community through the advancement of professionalism, knowledge
and learning."
They're not kidding.
Now it is my turn to serve you. Some of you
will also be asked to help in our chapter by serving on a committee or in a
support position. Although you may be "just a member", remember, all the
members are important to the body, and "you get out of it what you put into
it." I look forward to this next year, working, learning, and associating
with you.
Thank you.
