Last Month's Meetings

Tour: Automation Engineering
Thanks to Ryan Hampl and the folks at Automation Engineering for demonstrating their robot cell design and construction, robot programming simulation, robot tooling design strategies, etc. It was an excellent experience.
When we visited, Automation Engineering was working on an Automated battery palletization system for Johnson Controls, Inc. in Portland Oregon using a large ABB robot capable of moving 120kg. They also showed us a piece of equipment used to assemble and stack spiral battery cells for Optima in Aurora, CO. AE is also looking to expand into general electrical controls and more local assembly equipment.

Items of Business: 2006 Officers - A Switch to Thursdays for Meetings
We are grateful for the new officers who stepped up to help us keep offering SME events in Central Kansas:

We decided to try shifting all meetings to Thursday nights rather than Wednesdays, since regular Wednesday attendees seemed to have no conflict with the change to Thursdays. We feel one of the reasons for such a good turnout at our January meeting was due to changing the meeting to Thursdays.
