Despite the recent fall in oil prices, energy prices have shown an upward trend over the past few years. While this may be good for energy producers, higher prices put more pressure on manufacturers who are trying to reduce costs. With the upcoming cold season, many companies are looking for ways to reduce their energy bills, and this month we are pleased to have Stephen Farrell, the President of VerdaTech Energy Management & Consulting, talk about what companies can do about their energy costs.

With a focus on industrial and commercial facilities, Stephen will introduce energy conservation, and discuss many of the factors to consider. His presentation will cover several areas:
- fundamentals of energy conservation
- reviewing the building envelope and lighting choices
- understanding your mechanical systems and controls to optimize efficiency
- energy reduction opportunities in your manufacturing processes
- the use and viability of renewable energy sources
- a review of available government grants and incentives
About our Speaker:
Stephen has a 4-year Mechanical Engineering qualification from South Africa, with extensive experience in energy auditing and management. He is the owner and director of VerdaTech Energy Management & Consulting, an Alberta based company that specializes in commercial and residential energy matters. Stephen is the driving force behind the company, with a strong technical and administrative background. This was recognized by the Calgary Chamber of Commerce when VerdaTech became one of three finalists for the Emerging Enterprise of the Year Award for 2003.
VerdaTech Energy Management & Consulting is an Alberta based company. Our focus is on energy management and we specialize in commercial and residential energy matters including renewable energy. Our goal is to reduce our client's energy consumption, saving them money and saving the environment.
