Workforce Issues and Economic Indicator Trending

As economies around the world begin to come out of recession, it is an opportune time for companies to assess market trends. Brenda Nylund and Denes Nemeth will talk about workforce issues and economic trending. The following topics will be discussed by the respective speakers:

• Brenda Nylund’s presentation is entitled The Workforce of the Future - Developing an Industry-specific Roadmap for the Next Decade. Her presentation will include information on factors impacting the supply of skilled workers, challenges and opportunities in attracting and retaining skilled employees in Alberta, and resources and initiatives at Edmonton Economic Development Corp. (EEDC) to assist employers;

• Denes Nemeth will discuss stats and figures reflective of the Current State of the Economy, key economic indicators trending of the Future State of the Economy, and Key Edmonton Economic Development Corp. initiatives.

About our speakers:

Brenda Nylund is currently the Manager, Workforce Development for EEDC. This position includes working with employers to help attract and retain employees and to develop the Edmonton region workforce for the future.

Denes Nemeth currently serves as Business Development Manager, Europe, for EEDC. As a senior member of the Economic Development Team at EEDC, his focus is on the attraction of trade and investment in the form of business, capital and talent, from target European Markets to Edmonton with a particular emphasis on value-added opportunities and the goal of facilitating and promoting a strong economic base in Greater Edmonton.
