Welcome to the homepage of the Atlanta Chapter (Chapter 61) of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), where manufacturing comes together in North Georgia! We’re glad you stopped by for a visit. Our Chapter 61 team strives to maintain an active schedule of exciting plant tours along with interesting and informative technical presentations and activities, in order to promote an increased awareness of manufacturing engineering in our community. At the same time, we aim to create an environment for local manufacturing professionals to get together and have some fun, chat with each other about leading trends and technologies that impact their daily jobs, and develop friends and contacts that will last them throughout their careers and lifetimes. November 17, 2009 – Tour of Kemira A fun time as had by all at our Kemira tour. Thanks to Kemira for hosting us and thanks to all of you who attended. We hope you will join us at the Toys for Tots meeting. See below for more details. December 10, 2009 – Toys for Tots It’s time for our annual Toys for Tots bike building event! This is the tenth anniversary of SME Atlanta’s support of the Toys for Tots program organized by the U.S. Marines. Come join us for a great time while we blitz-assemble bicycles so the Marines and other volunteers can make children’s dreams come true during this holiday season. We typically build about 100 bicycles and tricycles and tell a few yarns along the way! We hope that you will come out and share a fun night with us on Thursday December 10th, while giving some of your time to such a worthy cause.
