Chapter History

The Chapter S181 of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers was started here on the Southwestern Oklahoma State University campus in 1983 by students of the Engineering Technology Dept. then known as the Industrial Education Dept. The SME chapter here on campus has been active for over twenty years.

I have managed to find a 1983 SWOSU yearbook depicting the Start of SME here, I apologize for the quality. SME has contributed greatly to the needs of the Engineering Tech. students here on campus by providing them with many enticing opportunities, such as networking with companies and Engineers abroad, as well as the professionally recognized certifications. The fact that SWOSU offers a TAC/ ABET accredited Manufacturing Engineering Technology major combined with the affiliation with SME has proved to be a lucrative investment to many graduated students.
