What is SME?

SME is an international professional society dedicated to serving its members and the manufacturing community through the advancement of professionalism, knowledge, and learning. You can learn more about SME and the benefits of becoming a member by visiting the SME web site.

How do I join SME?

Joining SME is simple. Contact one of the officers on the officer list and they will be more than glad to help you become a member. Now you can also apply on the Internet by filling out an online application.

Do I have to be a
member to attend meetings?

No. Even though there is a membership, the meetings are not open exclusively to "members only." In fact, we encourage non-members to attend and see what the meetings are all about.

However, if you choose not to join, keep in mind that you will miss out on several benefits and group activites. Non-members cannot apply for SME scholarships and vote on key issues at meetings.
