Historically, ABET mentioned manufacturing as a design constraint, but did not require manufacturing experiences in the learning outcomes for engineers. In this position paper, NAMRI/SME recommends that ABET reject the proposed changes to the Engineering Student Outcomes and also recommends that the proposed changes proposed be adopted.
